The Skincare Capsule — Current Edit
A pared-back routine built around consistency, sensitivity, and products that earn their place through repeat use.
If your skin is currently inflamed or reactive, start with The Barrier Repair Capsule before following this routine.
-
Cleanser
A gentle, non-stripping base chosen for tolerance and repeat use.
Bioderma Sensibio Gel Cleanser
A low-foam, fragrance-free cleanser designed for sensitive and reactive skin. Chosen for its simplicity, consistency, and ability to cleanse without disrupting the barrier. Why I keep it: This is one of the few cleansers I can use consistently without triggering irritation or tightness. It’s reliable, uncomplicated, and works equally well when my skin is calm or breaking out. It also feels quite luxurious.
-
Hydration/Barrier Support
Used to support the rest of the routine, not overwhelm it.
Magic Molecule Dermal Repair Hydrogel Spray with Pure Hypochlorous Acid
A calming hypochlorous acid hydrogel designed to support irritated, sensitive skin. Lightweight and cooling, it helps reduce visible redness and restore balance when the skin barrier feels compromised.
Why I keep it: This is my first reach when my skin is inflamed, breaking out, or compromised. It hydrates and calms without acting on the skin, which made it especially valuable during pregnancy when most treatments were off limits.
-
Moisture & Oils
Oils form the backbone of this routine and are rotated intentionally.
Heritage Store Rose Oil
Used to seal in hydration and calm reactive skin.Desert Essence Jojoba Oil
A simple, reliable option that layers easily without heaviness. Use in instances where a more neutral option is needed.Pura D’or Vitamin E Oil
Used selectively for barrier support and dry areas.Derma E Anti-Wrinkle Treatment Oil
Lightweight and easy to incorporate without irritation as a natural and gentler alternative to harsh retinoids.Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil
Used as a finishing oil when skin needs brightness without added fragrance.(Not all oils are used at once — rotation is intentional.)
Why I keep them: I rotate oils based on how my skin feels rather than forcing one product to do everything. These are the ones I’ve found to be lightweight, non-congesting, and easy to pull back when my skin needs less — which matters just as much as knowing when to add more.
-
Gentle Actives
Treatments that earn their place through consistency.
Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Toner
A lightweight hydrating step that layers well under oils and treatments. Why I keep it: This is my most gentle form of chemical exfoliation. The PHA and BHA help keep breakouts in check without overwhelming my skin, and I use it selectively rather than daily when my skin can tolerate light actives.
Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask
Used occasionally to reset texture and clarity without stripping. Why I keep it: This is a rare physical exfoliant I can tolerate. It smooths and clears without irritation, and it’s a long-time holy grail for me when my skin feels stable and needs a reset.
-
Daily SPF
Chosen for wearability and tolerance.
Babo Botanicals Daily Sheer Mineral Tinted Sunscreen Stick SPF 50
A portable mineral SPF 50 sunscreen stick with a subtle tint, designed for sensitive skin. Easy to apply, easy to reapply, and comfortable enough for daily wear.
Why I keep it: I reach for this when I want reliable mineral protection that’s easy to apply and reapply, especially on sensitive or breakout-prone days. The stick format makes it low-effort, and the tint helps it blend in without irritation.
